Like impatient children at Christmas, my friend and I decided to attend the midnight launch of FIFA 11 at Tesco. Given it was a Thursday evening, we didn't envisage so many people willing to do the same as us, especially considering that the queue predominantly consisted of kids who had school the next morning. One brat had even sent his mother to get it for him! Fortunately there were enough copies left by the time we reached the front of the queue.
Whilst the clientèle present were largely a bunch of chavs and bruvs, at least the experience wasn't as bad as it could have been. Apparently at a similar midnight launch at an ASDA in Edmonton, a bunch of bruvs turned the store into a proverbial zoo. Upon rolling up to the store and seeing a queue of some 140 people, they began shouting and hollaring "Bruv! I want FIFA! Long 'ting, blud! I'm getting impatient yerr. Nah man, fuck queuing for dis" (actual quote). After which they proceeded to first begin flinging food about the store, then DVDs, and then even rugby tackling one unsuspecting consumer who was just walking out the shop with his new copy of the game. The police were called and they were subsequently arrested as the store stopped its midnight launch.
Still, it makes it that much more satisfying to know that it's these little shits that you're beating online. That is, if you can manage to get on to EA's shitty servers...
